ODUMODUBLVCK is one of the leading voices of Nigeria's contemporary rap movement, and his music frequently draws from Nigerian street culture, language, history, personality and everyday experiences.

The term Isale Eko, however, has a deep connection to Lagos history. Isale Eko literally means "bottom of Eko" and refers to the historic indigenous area of Lagos Island. The area's history is closely tied to the development of Lagos and the traditional institution of the Oba of Lagos.

This makes "Isale Eko" a particularly interesting keyword when discussing an artist such as ODUMODUBLVCK, whose artistic identity is strongly rooted in Nigerian culture.
