Human rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, has come under heavy criticism online after being accused of allegedly diverting part of a ransom money that was raised to secure the release of his kidnapped family relatives.
The allegation was made publicly by @Abdulganiyu0se1, a user on the micro-blogging platform, X (formerly Twitter), who claimed that the activist was not transparent about how the funds were handled.

Details Of The Claim
According to the X user, @Abdulganiyu0se1, Harrison Gwamnishu reportedly received a sum of ₦20 million along with an additional ₦50,000 from concerned contributors who donated toward securing the freedom of the victims.
The user further accused the human rights activist of misappropriating a portion of the ransom that was specifically intended to ensure the release of his sister and her husband, who were allegedly being held in captivity by kidnappers.
The accusation has since sparked widespread reactions online, with several users demanding accountability and full disclosure as to how the funds were used, while others defended the activist and urged the public not to rush to conclusions.
Harrison Gwamnishu Breaks Silence On X User’s Claim
In a lengthy Facebook post, Harrison Gwamnishu finally addressed the allegation, stating that he initially chose to remain silent in order to protect the life and safety of the man who is still being held captive by the kidnappers.
“The only reason I am staying silent is because of the safety of the man still in captivity. But since the family who are supposed to protect their brother are accusing me falsely, is it not better i drop all that happened including our initial plans for posterity sake”, He stated in the post.
According to the activist, he also called on investigative journalists and credible media organizations to thoroughly verify the facts of the case and help the public understand the full details surrounding the incident.
In his post, Harrison Gwamnishu further disclosed that representatives of the Edo State government are fully aware of the situation and have been kept informed about the developments surrounding the case.
