A woman battling cancer has reportedly declined a crucial blood transfusion recommended by her medical team, citing her deeply held religious beliefs, even though more than ₦30 million was raised to support her treatment. The development has sparked widespread reactions online as many express both concern for her well-being and respect for her decision.
The update was shared by popular X influencer, Sir Dickson, who organized and coordinated the donation campaign after the woman appealed for financial assistance to fund her medical care. According to him, despite the massive outpouring of generosity from Nigerians, the patient—known on X as @auntieesther pepper girl—has chosen to follow a treatment path aligned with her faith.

Woman Rejects Blood Transfusion
Sir Dickson explained that the woman’s blood levels had been stabilized and optimized in preparation for the next stage of her cancer treatment. However, her doctors recommended a blood transfusion before proceeding with chemotherapy, a standard requirement for her condition to improve the chances of successful treatment.
Despite this, she reportedly declined the transfusion due to her religious beliefs as a Jehovah’s Witness—a group known for refusing blood transfusions based on doctrinal teachings. According to Sir Dickson, the woman is opting for alternative medical procedures that align with her faith, even though these methods may take more time and require additional financial resources.
He expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed financially and emotionally to support her during this difficult period. He emphasized that her religious convictions must be respected, and the medical team is prepared to adjust her treatment plan accordingly.
