US lawmaker, Congressman Riley Moore, has issued a stern warning that the United States will hold the Nigerian government accountable if any harm comes to Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo, a prominent Plateau pastor who has been gaining international attention for his claims of a “Christian genocide” in Nigeria. The warning comes amid escalating threats against the pastor, who has been openly criticizing the Nigerian government over attacks on Christians by Fulani terrorists.

Moore, representing West Virginia in the US Congress, made the statement in a post on his X account shortly after Rev. Dachomo disclosed that he had received multiple threats from individuals loyal to President Bola Tinubu. The Congressman’s statement emphasized the seriousness with which the US government is monitoring Dachomo’s situation and the potential repercussions for the Nigerian authorities if the pastor’s safety is compromised.

“How can you trust a government that doesn’t even show up when you ask them to? The US will hold the Nigerian government responsible if anything should happen to the Pastor,” Moore said in his post, underlining his concern over the pastor’s immediate safety and the lack of protection offered by the Nigerian authorities.

The outspoken preacher had previously stated that he received a warning urging him to stop exposing the Tinubu government over ongoing attacks on Christians. He alleged that a high-ranking official within the administration personally contacted him following a visit from a presidential adviser, cautioning him about criticizing the government publicly. According to Dachomo, the threats were specifically aimed at preventing him from posting videos documenting Christian killings, mass burials, and other violent incidents occurring in Plateau State.

Shortly after making his concerns public, Dachomo faced further digital suppression. Within 24 hours of speaking out, his Facebook page was removed, and a newly created Instagram page was deleted within the next 24 hours. Meta later confirmed that the pastor had been denied access to his accounts entirely, citing his content as a “national security threat” to Nigeria. The action sparked widespread outrage among local and international activists, many of whom have stepped forward to offer legal assistance and vocal support for the pastor’s safety and freedom of expression.

Congressman Moore described Rev. Dachomo as being in clear and present danger, emphasizing that his situation reflects a broader pattern of threats against individuals exposing violence and human rights abuses in Nigeria. Moore also recalled a prior incident in which Dachomo warned the authorities of an imminent attack, which was dismissed as “fake news” by the government, only for 13 people to tragically lose their lives the following day. The Congressman’s remarks signal strong international concern and potential diplomatic consequences should the Nigerian government fail to ensure the pastor’s protection.
