Lady has opened up about the painful experience surrounding her wedding day after revealing that her parents refused to attend the ceremony because her husband did not pay her bride price, a key requirement in their cultural tradition.
The emotional story was shared on TikTok by the lady, identified as @itsreallyorga, where she explained how a decision she made for herself led to a deep family rift on what was meant to be the happiest day of her life.

According to her, the wedding ceremony went on without the presence of her parents, leaving visible gaps in what should have been a fully supported family celebration.
She disclosed that only a handful of people attended the wedding, including a few close friends, some coworkers, and just two of her siblings out of eight.
The lady explained that her parents’ absence was a deliberate decision rooted in their strong opposition to her stance on the bride price.
She revealed that choosing not to have her husband pay the bride price was entirely her personal decision, one she believed in strongly, but her parents were unwilling to accept it.
Despite multiple conversations and attempts to explain her reasons, she said her parents stood firm and chose to boycott the wedding as a form of protest against what they saw as a violation of tradition.
The absence, she noted, was emotionally devastating, especially knowing that she comes from a large family and had hoped for their presence and support on such an important occasion.
Speaking candidly about how it affected her, the lady shared that the emotional pain was overwhelming and left a lasting impression on her wedding memories.
She said …
“I just wish my parents were there for me. Especially having eight siblings and only three of them showing up on the biggest day of my life. I was emotionally hurt, but I tried my best to stay focused on my wedding. I cried a lot. I’ve learned that people only show up if they truly want to. A lot of people will congratulate you online, but won’t show up in person. Still, I genuinely appreciate every congratulations and all the support even from people I don’t know.”
The video has since sparked conversations online, with many social media users debating the role of tradition, parental authority, and personal choice in modern marriages.
While some sympathised with her parents’ adherence to cultural values, others praised the lady for standing by her decision and prioritising her beliefs despite the emotional cost.
