A Nigerian lady posted to Borno State for her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has shared a deeply emotional account of her journey, revealing how it took her nearly two days on the road before finally arriving at her orientation camp.

A Long, Emotional Journey to Borno

The lady, identified on TikTok as @shimmer.cakes.n.e, said she embarked on the long road trip with mixed feelings, especially due to the state’s well-known security issues. Traveling across several states, she documented key moments of her journey, giving followers a real-time experience of the tension, excitement, and uncertainty she felt along the way.

According to her, the journey was physically draining and emotionally overwhelming. At various points, she admitted she felt like crying because of the stress and fear, but she pressed on with determination to fulfil her national service obligation.

Documenting Her Travel Experience

Throughout the two-day trip, she kept her followers updated with videos, sharing the changing scenery, security checkpoints, and long stretches of road. These clips captured her anticipation as she got closer to Borno, as well as the relief that washed over her when she realized the journey was almost over.

She explained that hearing stories about Borno had already made her anxious, but seeing the region for herself helped calm her fears. She noted that although the trip was exhausting, she remained hopeful and prayerful until she reached the camp gates.

Arrival at the NYSC Orientation Camp

Upon her arrival, she posted more videos showing the NYSC camp environment. She appeared excited, smiling brightly as she explored the surroundings and settled into the reality of beginning her one-year national assignment.

She later revealed that she is the first person in her family to participate in the NYSC program, which made the moment even more emotional and meaningful for her.

Reactions From Nigerians

Her videos quickly went viral, attracting comments from Nigerians across social media. Many viewers celebrated her safe arrival, noting the courage it took to travel such a long distance to a state known for security challenges.

Others cheered her enthusiasm and strength, saying her story reflects the resilience of many young Nigerians who honour the NYSC call despite fears and uncertainties.

Several people also joked about the stress of receiving Borno as a posting, relating to her emotional reactions and praising her for taking it boldly.
