Condolences continue to pour in from across social media as a Nigerian mother of three living abroad sadly passed away on New Year’s Day, days after being placed on life support following serious health complications.
Details surrounding the heartbreaking incident were shared by @Dhkurullah on X (formerly Twitter), sparking widespread sympathy and emotional reactions from users.

Mother Of 3 Living Abroad Passes Away On New Year
According to @Dhkurullah, the tragic ordeal began when the deceased mother, identified as Damilola Balogun, started experiencing persistent and severe migraines that raised concern among family members.
Medical examinations later revealed that she had water on her brain, a serious condition that required urgent specialist care, prompting her referral to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for further treatment.
Aftermath Of Brain Surgery
In the viral tweet, which has since garnered over 1.7 million views, it was disclosed that three days after Damilola underwent brain surgery, her condition worsened and she slipped into a coma, leading doctors to place her on life support.
Despite sustained efforts by medical practitioners to stabilize her condition, all resuscitation attempts proved unsuccessful, and the life support machine was eventually switched off on January 1, 2026.
Damilola’s untimely death has left behind her three children, aged 11 years old, 10 years old, and just 5 months old, plunging the family into deep grief and emotional pain.
In response to the tragedy, a GoFundMe account has been set up to assist with her funeral and burial arrangements, provide care and support for her children, and help ease the financial burden facing the bereaved family during this difficult period.
In a recent update, £15,000 has already been raised through donations, according to information shared by the X user, as kind-hearted individuals continue to contribute.
