‎The woman, identified on Facebook as Ada Igbo, revealed that January 4, 2026, will mark a full year since she officially parted ways with her husband. In her post, she candidly discussed the challenges of single parenting and the lack of support she has received from her estranged spouse and his family.

‎Details Of The Post

‎According to Ada Igbo, after separating from her husband, she reached out to him for financial assistance to support their children, but her pleas were ignored entirely. Neither her husband nor his family responded, leaving her solely responsible for the care and well-being of their children.

‎In addressing public comments questioning her decision to leave the marriage and raise the children alone, Ada expressed frustration and disbelief at the lack of practical solutions offered by others. She emphasized that her husband’s negligence regarding the children’s affairs left her with no safe alternative but to take full responsibility for them.

‎In a lengthy Facebook post, she recounted her experience and addressed the scrutiny she has faced from well-meaning yet uninformed individuals. Her post reads in part:

‎"January 4th makes it one full year since I left my marriage with my children. And ever since, people keep saying,"

‎"You shouldn’t be taking care of those kids alone. Their father should be providing. Why didn’t you leave them with him? Why don’t you send them back to Nigeria?"

‎She clarified her stance firmly: leaving her children with their father was not an option due to his lack of involvement and responsibility. “Let’s remove one thing immediately: leaving my children with their father is not an option. So let’s scrap that,” she wrote.

‎She acknowledged that the father should be providing support, noting that she formally requested financial assistance by writing him a letter. Despite reading it, he ignored the request, and his family also remained silent. “Till today, silence,” she added, highlighting the absence of any accountability from her ex-husband and his family.

‎Ada went on to question critics who assume that single parenting is a choice made for convenience. She wrote, “Since I ‘shouldn’t carry the burden alone,’ what exactly should I do? Drop my children on the main road and go and live my life? Hand them over to someone who has chosen to be absent? Return them to a situation I left to protect them?”

‎She expressed frustration over the perception that single parenting is voluntary, explaining that she exhausted all avenues of communication before taking on the responsibility alone. “People talk like single parenting is a choice I woke up and made for fun. As if I didn’t first try communication. As if responsibility can be forced on a man who has decided to be mute,” she wrote.

‎Ada described her situation as having no other safe option and emphasized that she continues to prioritize her children above public opinion or societal judgment. “From where I’m standing, I didn’t choose to do this alone. I was left with no other safe option. And until someone gives me a realistic answer, I will continue choosing my children over people’s opinions,” she stated.

‎She also noted the timing of her post, sharing her frustration just days before Christmas. “It’s 4 days to Christmas and I decided to scream out hopefully I get help,” she concluded, appealing to social media users for understanding and support.
