In a detailed post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the man, identified as @freyy_is, narrated how he repeatedly travelled long distances from Kogi State, where he was posted for service in 2022, to Ogun State to visit his then-girlfriend, who was a student at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU).

According to him, the relationship demanded sacrifices he could barely afford at the time, as he was surviving on a modest allowance with little to no extra money to spare.

Despite these challenges, he said love pushed him to endure overnight bus journeys, extreme physical stress, body pains, and exhaustion, all just to spend a few hours with his girlfriend and feel emotionally reassured.

He explained that whenever issues arose in the relationship, rather than giving space or staying back, he believed that showing up physically would fix everything.

During one particularly emotional moment when the relationship was strained, he decided once again to embark on the long journey, convinced that seeing her face-to-face would resolve their misunderstandings.

After an exhausting overnight trip, he finally arrived at her residence late at night, tired, dusty, and relieved that he had made it.

However, his relief was short-lived as he was informed that he could not stay because her mother was around.

With no accommodation arranged, no nearby friends to turn to, and no money to book a hotel, the young man found himself stranded outside, clutching his bag and reflecting on the emotional and physical sacrifices he had made for love.

He described the moment as a painful wake-up call that forced him to confront how much he had tolerated and given up in the relationship.

The story was shared under a viral trend titled “Things you tolerated for love,” sparking reactions from social media users who sympathized with his experience and shared similar stories of their own.

“In 2022, during my NYSC, i was posted to Kogi State. my ex was in OOU, Ogun State, so you already know how mad that distance was. different states and not like I had money to spare. but I was in love, and love can make road trips feel normal.

i used to travel all the way from Kogi to Ogun just to see her. taking overnight buses, stress, body pain and everything, just to sit with her and feel okay again.

one time, we had an issue, the type that can make your chest feel heavy and your mind restless.

instead of staying back, i still packed my bag and entered the road because in my head, seeing her would fix everything.

i got to her place at night, tired, dusty, and honestly relieved that I had finally arrived.”
