A Nigerian fashion designer has taken to social media to share her frustration after dealing with an unusually demanding client who made a shocking request regarding a dress she commissioned.
The designer, identified on TikTok as @hikkychase_luxe, narrated that the customer paid ₦210,000 for a custom-made outfit and insisted that the finished dress must be ironed using only bottled water. According to the client, using any other type of water—such as tap or sachet water—would allegedly cause irritation to her skin.
Tailor uses Swan bottled water
Trying to meet the client’s unusual requirement, the designer explained that she purchased bottles of water and used them to iron the outfit as instructed. She followed the instructions carefully, recorded the process, and sent the video to the client for confirmation.
However, things took an unexpected turn when the client rejected the dress—not because it wasn’t well-made, but because the fashion designer used the wrong brand of bottled water. The designer said the client never specified the brand, so she opted for Swan bottled water, which she considered clean and high-quality.
Client threatens to arrest her
According to the tailor, the customer became extremely upset and began threatening her with arrest if she did not refund the ₦210,000 deposit paid for the outfit. The woman reportedly gave her a strict deadline of seven hours to return the money or face legal action and possible jail time.
The dissatisfied client told her:
“I had to rewatch this video again like 3 times to be sure what I saw was clear!! That isn’t what I told you… What’s Evan bottle water!?? I told you Eva!!… Eva! Eva!! Eva!! Please refund me my part payment that I made… I’m not interested. I’m not balancing you oh! And I’m giving you 7 hours to refund the deposit I already made… 7 hours or you will be behind the bars! That I can promise you. I saw your page and I was really intrigued with your works! Got to my turn and you’re offering me very annoying service! I didn’t send you Evan bottle water.”
The fashion designer, shocked by the situation, explained her own side:
“A client wrote me saying she wanted to make a dress. After making the dress, we had an agreement that her dress will be ironed with bottled water, so I charged her for three bottled water to make the dress which she agreed to.
But she didn’t specify which brand of water, so I went for Swan which I used because it is a very good product. She asked for a video, which I sent to her—na there kasala burst o. She said she didn’t ask me to use Swan, that she wanted Eva. I tried my best to explain to her that…”
Her story has sparked massive debate online, with many viewers calling the client’s demand “unreasonable,” “extra,” and “stressful,” while others simply found the entire situation amusing and unbelievable.
