A man who disguised himself as a cleaner to steal valuables at an event in Ikeja met an unexpected and dramatic end after CCTV operators at the venue closely monitored his suspicious movements and raised an alert.
Creative thief caught and given VIP beating
Eyewitnesses described the suspect as unusually bold, noting that he moved confidently from table to table, pretending to clean while quietly picking up guests’ bags, mobile phones, cash, and other personal belongings.
His strategy seemed to be working flawlessly until security officials were notified. The vigilant CCTV operator had been closely observing his deliberate movements and quickly alerted other security personnel.
The thief attempted to walk out casually, but security intercepted him near the exit. This led to what attendees jokingly referred to as a “VIP beating,” as the man was forcefully restrained before being handed over for further investigation.
Many guests who witnessed the incident expressed a mix of shock, disbelief, and amusement, emphasizing how surprisingly prepared and confident the man appeared throughout his operation.
