A Celestial church pastor has stirred massive reactions across social media after openly criticizing some of Nigeria’s most influential Christian clerics, including Pastor E.A. Adeboye, Pastor W.F. Kumuyi,[/b] and other well-known church leaders, over what he described as their continued silence in the face of Nigeria’s worsening security situation.

The outspoken cleric lamented that while Nigerians face constant threats from bandits, kidnappers, and Boko Haram insurgents, many respected church leaders appear reluctant to publicly confront the government or use their influence to demand accountability and action, leaving millions to suffer in silence.

In a now-viral video reportedly shared by @ChuksEricE on X (formerly Twitter), the pastor did not mince words as he questioned the perceived double standards among top religious figures, suggesting their reactions would be different if the violence affected them personally.

“Baba Adeboye if bandits had kidnapped your child or your wife, you would have acted. Even Kumuyi if one of your children had been abducted, you would have done something about it,” he said emphatically in the video.

He went further to challenge these religious leaders to stop offering only prayers and instead speak boldly against what he described as a failing system that has allowed insecurity to thrive.

According to him, pastors with millions of followers and international influence should go beyond the pulpit and confront authorities directly, using their platforms to amplify the voices of suffering Nigerians who are daily victims of violence, abductions, and terror attacks.

The pastor also took a swipe at officials within CAN, accusing some church leaders of being too close to politicians and prioritising personal benefits over the welfare of their followers and the nation at large.

He stated that the church must return to its moral duty of being the voice of the oppressed and not merely a place of worship detached from the realities faced by ordinary people.

The strong remarks have since ignited widespread debate online, with many Nigerians applauding his boldness and calling on other religious leaders to follow suit by speaking truth to power.

However, some critics have argued that clergy members may choose quiet diplomacy over public confrontation, warning that confrontational statements could further inflame tensions.

Despite the mixed reactions, the video continues to gain traction, with many insisting that the message reflects the frustrations of countless Nigerians who believe that influential voices in society must no longer remain silent.
