An alleged case of harassment involving a male visitor has sparked serious concern and online outrage at Elizade University, located in Ondo State.

Eyewitnesses disclosed that the visitor had gone to the institution solely “to celebrate his brother’s birthday with friends,” with no intention of causing trouble or violating school rules.

According to multiple sources, the visitor arrived on campus with “a birthday cake and other gift items” meant for the small celebration.

However, upon arrival, school authorities reportedly informed him that “cakes and similar items are not allowed within the campus premises,” citing internal regulations.

The visitor was said to have calmly accepted the directive and immediately stated that he would “leave the school environment peacefully alongside his friends,” without argument or resistance.

Trouble allegedly started while the group was already on their way out of the campus, as they claimed the situation suddenly escalated without provocation.

Witnesses alleged that a security official attached to the university “began shouting aggressively at the visitor,” despite the fact that he was already exiting the premises as instructed.

One friend who witnessed the incident narrated that the confrontation began after they decided to leave. “We were on our way to our house, as we were leaving the school, the man started shouting on the guy (the visitor) that he should start going,” the witness explained.

The visitor reportedly questioned the hostile tone, responding calmly by asking, “Why are you shouting at me? I’m a visitor. Is this how you treat your visitors?”

According to the eyewitness account, the security official allegedly became enraged by the response and “started demanding for handcuffs,” an action that further confused the visitor and his friends.

The visitor was said to have challenged the demand, insisting he had done nothing wrong. “Why are you demanding for handcuffs? I only came for my brother’s birthday,” he reportedly said.

The situation allegedly turned violent shortly after, with claims that the security official physically assaulted the visitor in full public view.

“That’s just how this man hit him on the face, not once, twice,” the witness recounted, describing the incident as shocking and humiliating.

The alleged assault has since generated widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians condemning the use of force on a visitor and calling on the university authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly.

As of the time of filing this report, the management of Elizade University is yet to release an official statement addressing the allegations or clarifying the actions of the security personnel involved.
