Residents of Aviele Community near Auchi in Edo state [/b]were thrown into deep panic and confusion after heavily armed bandits reportedly stormed the home of a newlywed couple and abducted them in a brazen late-evening attack that has since left the entire community on edge and in fear.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic as the attackers struck without warning, forcing their way into the couple’s residence and dragging them away at gunpoint. Locals say the victims had only recently settled into their home after their wedding, making the incident even more heartbreaking for friends, family, and neighbors.
In a disturbing video that has since gone viral on social media, shared on Instagram by activist Harrison Gwamnishu, the kidnappers issued a threatening message to the family while demanding a huge ransom before the victims would be released.
In the emotional footage, the young husband could be heard crying out for help as his pregnant wife sobbed uncontrollably beside him, pleading for their lives.
“Abeeg make una help us, abeeg make una help us, my wife get belle. They want to sleep with her. Please help us. We only have ₦7 million in our account, and they are demanding ₦50 million.”
According to the victim’s brother, the couple was snatched from their home at about 8 PM shortly after they returned from town. He added that neighbors who tried to raise alarm were too terrified to confront the armed men.
A witness also claimed to have seen the abductors, allegedly Fulani herdsmen, forcefully moving the couple into a nearby bush while threatening anyone who dared to follow them with death.
The activist has since called on the Edo State Government, security agencies, and the Federal Government to respond swiftly by launching an urgent rescue operation and increasing security presence in the area to prevent further attacks.
Community leaders have also expressed frustration over the growing rate of kidnappings and violent crimes in the area, stating that residents now sleep with one eye open for fear of being the next target.
The incident has triggered outrage across Edo State and beyond, with many Nigerians taking to social media to demand justice and better protection for rural communities.
