According to reports, the fatal confrontation began as a minor disagreement over a sachet of Pure Water meant for ablution before prayers.

Eyewitnesses said the argument quickly escalated, shocking fellow worshippers who were preparing for or already engaged in Maghrib prayer.

The suspect, identified as Abdulazeez, allegedly drew a knife and stabbed his 20-year-old friend, Sadiq, multiple times, inflicting fatal injuries.

Despite efforts to save him, Sadiq was confirmed dead shortly after the attack, plunging family members, friends, and residents of the area into grief.

Security operatives were immediately alerted, and Abdulazeez was arrested at the scene and taken into custody, where he remains detained pending further investigation.

Authorities have confirmed that if formally charged and convicted, the suspect could face capital punishment under Nigerian law.

The shocking nature of the incident has also fueled public anger, with many questioning how a worshipper could enter a mosque armed with a deadly weapon.
