Prior to the official announcement, Rosenior had confirmed that he had verbally agreed to take over as Chelsea manager, with all contractual details expected to be finalized shortly. The club’s statement now formalizes a deal that will see the Englishman remain at Stamford Bridge until 2032, reflecting the club’s confidence in his long-term vision and managerial abilities.

“Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Liam Rosenior as head coach of the men’s team. The Englishman has signed a contract that will extend through to 2032, underscoring the club’s commitment to long-term stability and growth,” the official statement read in part.

Rosenior arrives at Chelsea with notable coaching experience both domestically and internationally. He previously managed RC Strasbourg in France, where he achieved European qualification for the first time in 19 years during his debut season. Prior to his tenure in Ligue 1, he held coaching roles in England with Hull City and Derby County, building a reputation for tactical acumen and player development.

Backroom team to join Stamford Bridge

In line with his appointment, the 41-year-old coach will bring key members of his Strasbourg coaching staff to Chelsea, ensuring continuity and a familiar working environment. Strasbourg’s first-team coach Kalifa Cisse, assistant head coach Justin Walker, and head of analysis Ben Warner are all expected to join Rosenior at Stamford Bridge, reinforcing operational cohesion and tactical consistency as the club transitions to its new era under his leadership.

Strasbourg tenure and achievements

Rosenior took over Strasbourg in July 2024 and made an immediate impact, guiding the team to a seventh-place finish in Ligue 1 during his first season. This achievement secured European football for the club for the first time in eight years, a milestone that elevated his profile across European football circles. His final game in charge was a 1-1 draw against Nice, marking Strasbourg’s fifth consecutive league match without a win at the time. The team currently sits seventh in Ligue 1 and leads their UEFA Conference League group.

Reflecting on his time with Strasbourg, Rosenior said, “The last 18 months have been the best of my professional career. I have a deep affection for the club and the people there, but when Chelsea presented the opportunity, it was one I simply could not refuse. This is a chance to test myself at the highest level and lead a club with tremendous history and ambition.”

Chelsea fans will be eagerly awaiting Rosenior’s first appearance on the touchline, as the club looks to combine his international experience with the talent in the current squad. With a long-term contract until 2032, the club is signaling an era of managerial stability, strategic growth, and sustained competitiveness in domestic and European competitions.
