Pastor Dr Great Olalekan Martins, a former cleric of Deeper Christian Life Ministry,[/b] has broken his silence on the circumstances that led to his exit from the church founded by renowned preacher Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, sharing details that have since sparked intense debate online.
In a lengthy Facebook post, the pastor recounted how his time in the ministry was marred by alleged unfair treatment from more than two senior Deeper Life overseers, especially during his posting to the Kabba region.

According to him, one particular overseer allegedly engaged in fraudulent salary deductions, even after Pastor Kumuyi reportedly instructed that such deductions should be stopped.
Expressing his frustration in the caption of his post, he wrote:
“He fraudulently deducted my salary against pastor Kumuyi’s instruction. Yet pst… out of greediness and wickedness was deducted out of my small salary in the name of GS when pastor Kumuyi had ordered that such deduction should stop..”

Pastor Great further revealed that his monthly salary while serving as a Deeper Life pastor was just ₦25,000, with no housing, transport, or welfare allowances attached to it.
In contrast, he alleged that the overseer responsible for the deductions earned about ₦300,000 monthly from Lagos, in addition to enjoying several benefits such as health allowances, children’s school fees, and transportation support.
He claimed that repeated attempts to escalate the matter to Pastor Kumuyi were unsuccessful due to what he described as poor communication channels within the church’s administrative structure.
Beyond financial struggles, Pastor Great also shared a deeply personal experience, revealing that his mother suffered a stroke eight years ago. He alleged that despite reaching out for help, neither the pastors nor the church offered any form of assistance to his family during that difficult period.
He stated that these experiences gradually changed his perception of the faith, leaving him bitter and disillusioned, and ultimately influencing his decision to walk away from the ministry.
The revelations have since generated widespread reactions on social media, with many users expressing shock and concern over the welfare of church ministers.
One Facebook user wrote, “People think all pastors are rich. This shows the suffering some of them go through.”
Another commented, “If this is true, then churches need to start being transparent with how they treat their ministers.”
