A trending video has stirred intense reactions across social media after a landlord reportedly packed out and displayed the belongings of a tenant who was allegedly kidnapped several months ago while traveling to his village in Imo State.

The disturbing footage, which was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @ChuksEricE, revealed that the tenant had been missing for a prolonged period, with neighbors claiming that no relatives, friends, or representatives showed up to renew the rent or make any formal contact with the landlord.

According to those familiar with the situation, the landlord initially exercised patience by granting the tenant additional months of grace, hoping that someone would eventually come forward to settle the rent or provide information on the tenant’s status.

However, after months of waiting and uncertainty, the landlord reportedly made the decision to clear out the apartment in order to put the property back on the market for prospective tenants.

The video showed the tenant’s personal belongings carefully arranged outside the compound, a sight that left many viewers shocked, unsettled, and deeply divided over whether the action was justified.

While some social media users sympathized with the landlord, citing financial pressure and the realities of the current economic climate, others criticized the move as insensitive, especially given that the kidnapped tenant’s whereabouts and condition remain unknown.

Reacting to the video, one viewer wrote, “This is heartbreaking. What if the person returns?” Another commented, “Landlords no dey send anybody again. Economy don hard.”

The viral clip has since ignited widespread debate online, raising questions around compassion, property rights, and how landlords in Nigeria should ethically handle situations involving missing or kidnapped tenants.
