Former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo, has issued a stern warning to Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo over what he described as repeated and misleading claims of an alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria, amid the country’s worsening insecurity situation.
In a video circulating widely on social media, Dokubo strongly condemned the Plateau-based pastor, accusing him of spreading false narratives capable of fueling tension and division across the country. He went as far as issuing a dire warning, stating that if he were to place the same kind of curse on Dachomo that the pastor allegedly places on others, it would allegedly end the cleric’s life within 24 hours, describing him as fake and dishonest.
Dokubo criticized religious figures who, according to him, exploit faith to distort the truth and mislead the public. He argued that most violent crises in Northern Nigeria are not religiously motivated, questioning why farmers in states like Sokoto and Kebbi continue to suffer attacks from bandits if the violence were genuinely based on religion.
Dokubo expressed frustration over the spread of misinformation, particularly referencing recent comments attributed to former U.S. President Donald Trump. He claimed such statements have only worsened tensions and hatred within Nigeria rather than offering any meaningful solutions to the country’s security challenges.
“I listen to so many people and sometimes I get angry, because they deliberately lie and claim to be men of God. Maybe they are playing with God. You are not the only person who can talk rubbish,” Dokubo said during the video rant.
He further questioned attempts to link Nigeria’s security problems to religious or political conspiracies, stressing that fear, ignorance, and long-standing tribal conflicts are often falsely packaged as religious persecution.
Addressing political accusations, Dokubo warned against blaming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the ongoing violence, insisting that the president is not responsible and has no direct involvement in the crisis affecting different parts of the country.
He concluded by condemning individuals who deliberately misinform the public for personal or ideological gain, urging Nigerians to seek the real facts behind the conflicts. Dokubo emphasized that the government, according to him, has firsthand knowledge of the situation and that citizens should rely on verified information rather than emotionally charged propaganda.
