A social media influencer, popularly known as Gehgeh, has once again sparked heated discussion online after sharing his candid views on success in internet fraud, commonly referred to as “yahoo” in Nigeria. His comments have drawn attention for being unusually frank in a space where many influencers either glorify the lifestyle or downplay the role of luck in their success.

In a viral video clip circulating on multiple platforms, Gehgeh broke down the difference between what he described as temporary success versus genuine skill in the controversial online practice. According to him, most people mistakenly attribute wealth and success in yahoo to cleverness or mastery, when in reality, luck plays the decisive role.

Gehgeh attributes yahoo success to luck, not skill

In the clip, Gehgeh explained, “Things wey go slow you down, number 1 yahoo. It’s outdated. Na luck you get, no be update make you big. Na luck. Na God do am for you. When you go know say na luck is when time don reach and nobody pick again, your eye go clear.” His words highlight his belief that success in internet fraud is largely situational and relies on timing and chance rather than consistent skill or strategy.

He continued, giving examples from his own observations: “That period wey them pick and your hand dey hot, you tear one car, build house, tear another car, you’ll think say you sabi everything or you know the yahoo. If the hand con dey cold and you try that same thing, na that time you go know say omo na grace, you just only get luck that time no be say you sabi anything.” In other words, he argued that sudden gains can create a false sense of mastery, whereas the reality is that luck dictates outcomes more than ability.

The video has generated widespread reactions from social media users, with many applauding Gehgeh’s frank admission as a rare moment of honesty in discussions surrounding online fraud. Unlike many influencers who exaggerate their skill or downplay the role of luck, Gehgeh openly acknowledges the unpredictable and often arbitrary nature of success in the field.
