In his latest outburst shared on social media, Verydarkman argued that Wizkid’s public comments and online conduct reveal a troubling pattern of disrespect toward industry pioneers, insisting that musical success alone does not equate to cultural or societal greatness.

According to him, Wizkid has not made enough meaningful contributions to society to justify placing himself above iconic figures such as Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti, whose influence extended far beyond music into activism and social reform.

Verydarkman speaks on Wizkid’s suspicious patterns

Verydarkman claimed that Wizkid’s recent comments comparing himself to Fela were not only unnecessary but also poorly timed, especially given the reverence many Nigerians still hold for the late Afrobeat legend.

He argued that the remarks showed a lack of awareness of public sentiment and indirectly encouraged fans to insult or dismiss Fela’s enduring legacy, something he described as disrespectful and damaging to cultural history.

According to the influencer, these actions are not isolated incidents but part of a broader pattern in which Wizkid allegedly tests public reaction before doubling down on controversial statements involving respected figures.

He further alleged that Wizkid often minimizes the achievements of those who came before him, choosing provocation over humility despite benefiting from the foundation they laid for the global recognition of Nigerian music.

VDM recalls the Don Jazzy incident

To back up his claims, Verydarkman referenced past online interactions involving Mavin Records boss Don Jazzy, which sparked controversy at the time.

He suggested that Wizkid subtly dismissed Don Jazzy’s influence in the industry by amplifying comments that reduced him to an “influencer,” rather than acknowledging his role as a music executive, producer, and talent developer.

Verydarkman maintained that Wizkid’s decision to repost such comments was deliberate and symbolic, reinforcing what he described as a habit of undermining industry veterans through indirect means rather than outright statements.

He insisted that Wizkid, as one of Africa’s biggest music exports, should lead by example and show appreciation for legends whose sacrifices shaped the industry’s present success.

He said in part …

“Wizkid is not even greater than me talk less of Fela. He’s not. Contribution to the society? Get out, he’s not. A lot of them can’t even lace my boots. He started a pattern, and after testing the waters he decided to try again. That is why he decided to do this one that he is doing to Fela. The sad part is that Wizkid did not read the room before he decided to do this thing to Fela by instigating his followers to insult Fela Kuti’s name.

What is this pattern? Wizkid likes to downplay the legacy of the people before him. I’ll give you an example: Don Jazzy. Wizkid say e no fit talk to person wey dey signed to an influencer. Then another person now ask, shay na Don Jazzy you dey talk to? And Wizkid reposted it. Then another person said Don Jazzy na influencer na, and Wizkid reposted it.”
