Social media commentator Verydarkman has publicly reacted to criticisms trailing the arrest of well-known activist Harrison Gwamnishu, offering explanations on why he alerted law enforcement authorities and countering accusations that his actions were motivated by jealousy or personal rivalry.
Recall that Gwamnishu recently came under intense public scrutiny after the family of a kidnapped Edo couple accused him of allegedly diverting part of the ransom raised for the victims, sparking widespread outrage and debate on social media.
Verydarkman speaks
Addressing the situation, Verydarkman stated that he has known Harrison Gwamnishu for several years and described him as a generally good person who, however, appears to battle repeated setbacks throughout his life.
According to him, these challenges often emerge whenever Gwamnishu seems to be making progress, with controversies—particularly those connected to money—frequently forcing him backwards.
Verydarkman revealed that his decision to contact the police was triggered after watching a video in which Gwamnishu appeared to dismiss the allegations against him and suggested that no wrongdoing had occurred.
He explained that certain statements made in the video raised red flags for him, prompting the decision to formally report the issue to authorities. He added that he believes involving the police was the best way to clarify the matter once and for all.
Verydarkman insisted that if Gwamnishu was indeed innocent, a proper investigation by security agencies would confirm this and lead to his immediate release.
VDM suggests Harrison’s guilt
The commentator further argued that the activist’s continued detention suggests, in his personal view, that the allegations against him may not be entirely baseless.
He maintained that law enforcement agencies would not be holding Gwamnishu without reason if there was no substance to the claims brought forward.

“I’ve known Harrison for a long time. Harrison has a problem but he’s a good guy. The solution is that he needs cleansing. Because anytime he is going up, bad things happen and he comes down again. And it’s is always money related. I guess that people think Verydarkman is jealous because I initiated the call. I did that because when I watched the video he said something like ‘they would have reported to the police if he did anything wrong.’ I was gaslighted because I know what I know, so I called the police and reported that they should pick him up. If he’s the one saying the truth they should release him. But guess what, they haven’t released him because he’s not the one saying the truth.”
