Teddy, who was born and raised in London to an English mother and a Nigerian father, revealed that his father left the family when he was just two years old, leaving him with little to no information about his identity, location, or current whereabouts.

According to the teenager, years of attempts to trace his father through family contacts and personal efforts have proved unsuccessful, leaving him with unanswered questions about his roots and identity.

In an emotional message sent directly to VeryDarkman, Teddy explained his situation and pleaded for assistance, hoping the activist’s wide reach on social media could help reconnect him with his Nigerian family.

“Good evening Verydarkman, my name is Teddy Onwuchekwa and I’m 17 years old. I am London born of an English mother and a Nigerian father. His name was Derrick Onwuchekwa. He left when I was 2 years old and I don’t know where he is or how I can find him. I’d be very happy if you help me locate him. I have pictures of my granddad and my father to help locate him.”

Moved by the teenager’s appeal, VeryDarkman shared Teddy’s story across his social media platforms, displaying photographs said to be of Teddy’s father and grandfather in an effort to draw public attention to the case.

He urged Nigerians and members of the public who may recognise the individuals or have any useful information to come forward and assist in reuniting the teenager with his family.

The post has since attracted emotional reactions online, with many users offering words of encouragement and pledging to help circulate the images in hopes of locating Teddy’s father.
