According to Kuti, the tragic incident occurred after medical professionals overseas allegedly informed the family that nothing more could be done medically to save the woman, advising them to prepare for the inevitable due to the advanced stage of her illness.

In a viral video currently making rounds on social media, the outspoken musician narrated that the family, unwilling to accept the medical verdict, turned to spiritual intervention in Nigeria, believing that divine healing could reverse the situation.

Kuti claimed that the woman was taken to the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) camp, where intensive prayers, fasting, and other spiritual activities were carried out, with assurances reportedly given that she would recover fully through divine intervention.

He alleged that despite prolonged prayers and religious efforts, the woman eventually died within the church camp, leaving her family shocked, heartbroken, and unable to immediately come to terms with the loss.

The singer further stated that the family allegedly spent close to $250,000 during the entire process, driven by strong faith and hope that the prayers would result in a miraculous healing.

Kuti strongly criticised what he described as the promotion of faith healing in cases of terminal illness, warning that such practices can raise false hope, drain families financially, and leave them emotionally unprepared for the reality of death.

Pastor Adeboye.

He also alleged that following the woman’s death, Pastor Enoch Adeboye instructed the family to stop mourning, assuring them that he would pray for her resurrection, and asked them to kneel beside the body while he prayed privately for about an hour.

According to Kuti, after the prayers yielded no result, the family was reportedly told that it was God’s will and advised to return home, bringing the painful episode to an end.

Speaking in a mix of English and Pidgin, Kuti said …

“Oyibo don tell am say nothing can be done, get comfortable; it’s your time. But the woman no wan d!e na. Na Nigerian rich woman. She too hold bar. Na him dey come Nigeria, Adeboye will heal her. Dem go collect place for Redeem Camp. Adeboye pray finish..the woman come d!e inside redeem camp, the woman’s family couldn’t believe it.

Na him dey carry her body go inside Adeboye place for Redeem Camp. This was after $250,000 don go down.

Adeboye came out of his balcony, he didn’t even come down to meet them. He told them to stop crying. He will go inside to pray for her to wake up. As he pray for one hour she no wake up, e say na God call am, make them dey go house..”
