In a video that has since gone viral across social media platforms, the Zazu crooner shared his heartfelt thoughts on Destiny Boy’s struggles and challenges in the music industry, highlighting the difficulties the singer faced in gaining recognition despite his undeniable talent.

Portable stated in the clip: “Destiny Boy, we miss you. He knew how to sing more than Wizkid, but he didn’t have any helper. God, please don’t let me die young. Make sure you don’t die because there is fake love everywhere.”

He further revealed that Destiny Boy had been struggling with serious health issues privately, claiming that the late singer endured numerous hardships alone without proper support or guidance. Portable suggested that Destiny Boy’s lack of assistance contributed to the challenges he faced in sustaining his career and well-being.

Additionally, Portable touched on Destiny Boy’s decision to part ways with his former musical associates, the 2T Boys, implying that the move may have adversely affected the singer’s career trajectory. He remarked, “If he died at his babalawo’s place, it was because of his sickness. He had been facing a lot on his own. I don’t know why he left his helpers, 2T Boys. Everything changed for him when he left them.”

It is worth noting that Portable himself had recently been released from prison following a publicized dispute with his fourth baby mama, Ashabi Simple. His return to the public eye has been marked by several controversial statements, and his comments on Destiny Boy’s death have already sparked a wave of reactions online.

Some social media users agreed with Portable’s observations about the harsh realities of the Nigerian music industry and the difficulties faced by artists without proper support systems, while others criticized him for making such bold statements during a sensitive mourning period, arguing that it might be inappropriate to compare artists immediately after a death.

In his remarks, Portable also addressed rumors that fellow musician Davido had given Destiny Boy a house, a car, and money. He refuted these claims, saying, “Destiny Boy can sing better than Wizkid. People claimed Davido gave him a house, a car, and money, but we later heard it was a lie. There’s no evidence that Davido gave him any of those things.”

The video and statements have continued to circulate widely, sparking debates about the challenges of emerging artists, the authenticity of support within the Nigerian music industry, and the lasting legacy of Destiny Boy’s contributions to Afrobeat music.
