Nollywood actress Peggy Ovire has issued a strongly worded legal response to colleague Taye Arimoro, firmly denying all allegations leveled against her in his ₦100 million lawsuit and presenting a detailed counter-narrative of the events that unfolded on set.
In the new legal filing, Peggy’s legal representatives described Arimoro’s claims as “misleading, selective, sensationalized, and materially false,” accusing him of strategically twisting the facts to portray himself as a victim. They emphasized that the viral accusations circulating online fail to represent the full story behind the confrontation.

According to Peggy Ovire’s team, the issue began when Taye was urgently called back to set. Instead of complying, he allegedly launched into a heated argument with the production team, disrupting the work environment and escalating tensions.
The legal filing further asserts that Arimoro became physically aggressive, allegedly assaulting production manager Luke Obayi and head-butting Peggy’s driver, Joshua Madu, resulting in significant injuries. The driver was reportedly left bleeding from both his ear and nose.
Peggy’s lawyers noted that several witnesses gave formal statements to the police corroborating claims of Taye’s aggressive behavior. They explained that any physical restraint applied to him was solely to prevent him from fleeing the scene before police intervention.
The response also clarified that Peggy Ovire never physically assaulted Taye. The only contact, they said, occurred when she “lightly pushed him” after he allegedly attempted to deflate her car tyres—an action Peggy interpreted as an escalation of hostility.
Last week, a viral video captured Taye Arimoro accusing Peggy of attacking him on set, blocking his vehicle, and damaging his tyres. The controversy deepened when CCTV footage appeared online suggesting Peggy initiated physical contact, fueling heated online debates.
However, Peggy’s legal team insists the footage lacks full context and that the actor is attempting to weaponize public opinion. They maintain that the legal filings—supported by witness statements—present the accurate timeline of events.
Arimoro is currently demanding ₦100 million in damages as well as a public apology. But Peggy Ovire’s legal response signals she is fully prepared to defend her name and will not succumb to what her team describes as false accusations and character defamation.
