Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has sparked widespread reactions across social media after making a bold, emotional, and faith-filled declaration about her journey as a single mother, her achievements, and her definition of true success.
While speaking passionately, the actress openly challenged long-standing societal stereotypes associated with single motherhood, stressing that success should not be measured by marital status but by personal growth, stability, fulfilled children, and inner peace.
Iyabo Ojo shares her journey from single motherhood to success
Iyabo Ojo revealed that raising her children alone at a young age came with immense pressure and uncertainty, but against all odds, her life turned out better than many people expected. She credited her achievements to unwavering faith in God, resilience, and perseverance, noting that parenting often comes with moments of confusion, exhaustion, fear, and emotional strain.
According to her, there were moments when she felt overwhelmed and unsure of the next step to take, yet she pressed on, trusting God to guide her path and protect her children.
“There’s confusion in their midst. I’m the president-general of single mothers because my daughter has succeeded, my son has succeeded, and my life is better. When you’re raising children at a young age, you almost run mad. There were times I didn’t know which road to pass. If they told me I’d be a landlady in Lekki, I’d say it was a lie. It wasn’t me, it was God,” she said.
The actress further reflected on relationships and marriage, explaining that both men and women make choices that shape the outcome of their unions. She emphasised the importance of faith and personal responsibility, rather than societal pressure, when it comes to relationships.
She also expressed admiration for fathers who take active roles in their children’s lives, stating that responsible parenting deserves recognition regardless of marital status.
“Na man go leave you, na man go marry you. Na woman go leave you, na woman go marry you. Put your faith in God and see whether God will not do it for you. I easily fall in love with fathers that take care of their children,” she added.
