Reality TV star and billionaire heir Kiddwaya has come under heavy criticism after he made comments about the forthcoming Detty December celebrations, despite the severe insecurity plaguing his home state, Benue.
Many Nigerians on social media felt his remarks were poorly timed and insensitive, arguing that a public figure from a state battling killings, displacement, and rising tension should be more cautious and empathetic.
They accused him of focusing on partying while people back home continue to live in fear.
Kiddwaya fires back at critics
Responding to the backlash, Kiddwaya strongly defended himself, stating that he owed nobody an apology. He maintained that his comment was harmless and that the outrage was misdirected.
He argued that instead of attacking celebrities online, Nigerians should channel their energy toward holding political leaders accountable for insecurity, failed policies, and poor governance.
Kiddwaya criticized what he called “keyboard warriors,” insisting they were quick to insult him but lacked the courage to confront politicians responsible for the country’s challenges.
He also expressed confidence in his public influence, boldly claiming he could contest for governor in any Nigerian state and still win, despite the controversy surrounding him.
Kiddwaya’s initial post
The drama began after Kiddwaya tweeted:
“This might be the best detty December ever 🤯”
A concerned netizen, @Row_haastrup, replied:
“Are you not from Benue state? Don’t you have sense at all? No matter how little?”
Kiddwaya fired back bluntly:
“Idiot lead the way.”
He later expanded on his response, posting a lengthy rant that read:
“Let me Make this absolutely clear. IM NOT APOLOGISING FOR NOTHING!! 🖕🏾 ya’ll
You keyboard idiots will be worshipping politicians. Praising their bad behaviour. Hailing and begging when you see them, not bold enough to do shit when they make bad decisions that affects all of us yet the only power you have is to come online and cry like a bitch. Why don’t you grow some balls and start holding them accountable. The only thing most of you can do is insult people like me and make stupid jokes. The joke is on you.
I’d run for governor and still win. Is this not Nigeria 😂”
