The Federal Government has publicly applauded renowned Nollywood actress, filmmaker, and producer Funke Akindele following the outstanding commercial success of her latest movie, Behind the Scenes, which has continued to dominate cinema screens across Nigeria and beyond.
Through the National Orientation Agency (NOA), the government described the achievement as a major milestone for the Nigerian film industry, noting that it reflects the growing influence and global recognition of Nollywood productions on the world stage.

Behind the Scenes recently made history after grossing over ₦2.1 billion at the Nigerian box office, officially becoming the first Nollywood movie to cross the ₦2 billion revenue mark.
The remarkable performance has positioned the film as one of the highest-grossing African movies of all time, drawing massive audiences to cinemas nationwide.
Beyond Nigeria, the movie has also recorded impressive earnings abroad, generating more than $111,000 in Canada and about $190,000 across various locations in North America.
Reacting to the achievement, the NOA praised the production, stating, “From Lagos to Toronto, from cinemas in Abuja to theatres overseas — this movie had everyone locked in,” highlighting the widespread appeal of Akindele’s work.
