Renowned Nigerian gospel singer, worship leader, and minister, Dunsin Oyekan, has issued a stern spiritual advisory to Nigerians, particularly youths, urging them to exercise caution and discernment during the final days of the year. He specifically warned against engaging in what he described as “Oblee” activities, which he equated with reckless and spiritually draining behaviors often associated with the year-end festivities known locally as Detty December.

“Don’t dirty your December,” Oyekan cautions youths

During a recent ministration, Dunsin Oyekan addressed a large congregation, emphasizing the importance of using the remaining days of the year wisely. He highlighted the spiritual risks involved in excessive partying, indulgence, and careless celebrations, which are commonly witnessed during the festive season. According to him, such behaviors not only distract individuals from their spiritual growth but also have long-term consequences for their destiny and life purpose.

“Don’t waste the next few days of the year on oblee. Detty December, don’t go and dirty your December,” Oyekan cautioned firmly, urging youths to avoid squandering their time on frivolous activities that provide temporary pleasure but can negatively impact their spiritual and personal lives.

He further elaborated that the closing days of the year are a sensitive spiritual period, and taking what he called a “spiritual vacation” during this time is particularly risky. “You thought I don’t know what oblee is? Don’t go and oblee December and oblee your destiny,” he added, stressing that these days should instead be spent in reflection, prayer, and alignment with God’s plans.

Oyekan extended his advisory beyond Detty December festivities, warning against other forms of distractions and urges people to prioritize activities that build and strengthen their destiny. He underscored the importance of spiritual vigilance, especially during the transition into a new year, explaining that these days are meant for preparation, receiving divine strategy, and spiritual empowerment for the year ahead.

He reminded his listeners that clarity, guidance, and direction are derived from remaining in the presence of God, and that intentional reflection and spiritual alignment can significantly impact one’s personal and professional life in the upcoming year. According to him, the closing days of the year present a unique opportunity to receive revelations, reset priorities, and secure blessings for the months ahead.

The minister’s cautionary remarks have sparked widespread debate across social media platforms, with many users discussing the balance between celebration, relaxation, and spiritual discipline during the year-end period. Many followers have praised his insights, describing them as a much-needed reminder to stay spiritually grounded and avoid distractions that could derail their goals and purpose.
