During a recent interview, Chike recounted an incident from his past that left a lasting impression and ultimately led him to distance himself from regular church attendance. According to him, the experience was both unexpected and deeply uncomfortable, forcing him to reassess how he engages with organized religion while maintaining his personal belief in God.

Awkward Encounter at Church

Chike shared that the discomfort arose when he attended a church service where a former romantic partner was leading the praise and worship session. He explained, “the chick that was leading the praise and worship, we had history. And I couldn’t… I’m like… I was having flashbacks. And she was kabashing, and I’m like… who’s that.”

The singer described how the situation created a sense of awkwardness and distraction that made it difficult for him to engage fully in the service. He eventually decided to leave the church after just a week, clarifying that the choice had nothing to do with rejecting his faith in God. “Not because I don’t believe in God, because I do,” he emphasized, reflecting on a time early in his career when he prayed fervently for guidance while living in Primewater Gardens with his then-girlfriend. “I just said a prayer. I just said, God, I don’t have anybody. I don’t have anything. Just help me.”

Chike’s Reflection on Personal Growth and Faith

Chike also delved into another period of personal growth that influenced his perspective on life and spirituality. Shortly after releasing his debut album, he recounted a confusing experience where he unknowingly consumed a potent edible, which left him disoriented for several days. He explained, “Three, four days into the release of my album, I didn’t even know where I was. You know, but that was it.”

Despite stepping away from formal church participation, Chike stressed that his belief in God remains strong. He noted that the structured environment of church does not align with his lifestyle and creative pursuits. “So I don’t… Church is not for me. There are things that I like, that I would not be able to do,” he said. He further highlighted that the essence of living a meaningful life, in public, personal, or leadership capacities, lies in treating others well. “You just need to do right. By the people. By the people. By the people. Not necessarily leave a certain… Look, since I’m Christian, not certainly live a Christian life …”

Public Reaction

The candid revelation by Chike has resonated with many fans and viewers online, sparking discussions about the balance between personal faith and organized religion, as well as the challenges that public figures face in maintaining privacy and comfort in religious settings. His openness about these experiences underscores the complexity of navigating spirituality while managing the demands of a public career.
