The highly publicized loss quickly became a trending topic online, as fans and social media users reacted to the revelation of the massive bet placed by the Afrobeats superstar.

It would be recalled that the Super Eagles failed to secure a win during regulation and extra time, before eventually losing the match via a penalty shootout.

Goalkeeper Yassine Bounou emerged as the hero on Wednesday night as host nation Morocco defeated Nigeria 4–2 on penalties to secure a place in the Africa Cup of Nations final, following a tense semi-final encounter that ended goalless after extra time.

The dramatic nature of the game kept fans on edge, with hopes high for the Super Eagles before the heartbreaking conclusion of the shootout.

Davido’s $50K bet on Super Eagles win

The Afrobeats singer, prior to the match, had disclosed that he had wagered $50K and expected to get a payout of $348K dollars if Nigeria progressed to the final.

Davido had confidently shared details of the bet on social media, expressing his strong belief in the Super Eagles’ chances of victory.

“Nigerians to make the finals and I’ll double my stake on my slip,” Davido wrote while sharing his slip.

Unfortunately, the Eagles had lost the match.

Following the disappointing outcome, Davido appeared unfazed by the loss, as he later shared a photo of himself winding down with a sumptuous meal of grilled fish before flying out of Morocco.

The post sparked further reactions online, with many praising his calm attitude while others questioned the idea of staking such a large amount on a football match.
