A Nigerian lady, identified as @edna_reese, who recently accused singer Damilola Afolabi, popularly known as L.A.X, of having herpes, faced consequences after her claims. In a series of tweets on January 2, 2024, she alleged the singer has herpes in response to his online post.
Later, she disclosed being arrested for her statement and spending two days in custody. She also received a 500 million Naira defamation lawsuit. In her post-release statement, she mentioned the arrest, asserted her freedom of speech, and expressed regret over the situation. She stated, “I was locked up, and I just got out. There is freedom of speech, but I cannot guarantee freedom after speech. I lost my freedom, and I came out to a 500 million Naira letter of demand over defamatory information. Sorry, Zaza! I will not be commenting on this again, guys.”
